Provincial Minister Advances Himat Card Initiative for Disabled in Punjab

Lahore: Provincial Minister for Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Maal, Sohail Shaukat Butt, recently chaired a review meeting on the progress of the Himat Card project, aimed at improving welfare services for disabled individuals in the Gujranwala and Faisalabad divisions.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab announcement issued on 09 July 2024, the meeting involved Directors and Deputy Directors who presented updates on the Himat Card scheme. Minister Butt emphasized the need to speed up the registration, assessment, and certification processes to better serve disabled residents in line with directives from Punjab Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

During the meeting, the minister instructed officers to enhance verification efforts through a door-to-door campaign and called for the active involvement of assembly members in the project. He also directed upgrades to social welfare programs and discussed proposals to enhance facilities for disabled individuals through the Himat Card.

Minister Butt announced he would be closely supervising the initiative, requiring daily updates from divisional officers and monthly reviews of the performance of Punjab Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Maal institutions. His oversight aims to ensure that the welfare projects not only meet timelines but also align with the vision of enhancing the well-being of disabled individuals across Punjab.

The session concluded with a commitment to the timely and effective delivery of the Himat Card to all eligible beneficiaries, reaffirming the government’s dedication to the welfare and support of disabled individuals.
