Quetta: In the wake of a protest that escalated to stone-throwing near key government buildings, the provincial government’s spokesperson, Shahid Rand, affirmed the right to peaceful protest but criticized actions that breached the city’s designated red zone.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, Rand released a video message addressing the incident, where protesters originating from Sariab Road advanced toward the red zone, an area that includes the Supreme Court Registry, Governor House, Chief Minister’s House, and the Civil Secretariat Balochistan. The spokesperson highlighted that while peaceful protest is permissible, the entry into the red zone where public access is restricted under Section 144 represents a violation of law. The government maintains that protests can occur elsewhere without issue, but the red zone must remain secure and free from disruptions.
