Quetta, Provincial Agriculture Minister Haji Ali Madd Jatak announced significant new measures aimed at supporting the agricultural sector in Balochistan, focusing on converting the province’s tube wells to solar power. The announcement came during discussions with various delegations at his residence, emphasizing the government’s commitment to resolving longstanding challenges faced by local farmers.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, Minister Jatak highlighted that agriculture is crucial for the livelihood of 70% of the province’s population and is fundamental to the national economy. He addressed the persistent issue of power supply for irrigation, noting that no substantial efforts to solve this had been made previously. Through persistent efforts, his team secured 54 billion rupees from the federal government to fund the solar conversion project.
This initiative will transition all registered tube wells in the province to solar power, aiming to alleviate the energy supply issues permanently and enable farmers to contribute more effectively to the development of the region and the country. Minister Jatak reassured that the Agriculture Department’s officers would actively support and advocate for the landowners’ welfare as these changes are implemented.
