Quetta: Naseemur Rehman Khan Malakhil, the Provincial Adviser on Environment and Climate Change, extended his congratulations to the Pashtun communities on the International Day of Pashtun Culture. In his message, he highlighted the importance of preserving cultural and traditional values, as well as the historical heritage of the Pashtun people. Malakhil underscored the unique aspects of Pashtun culture, which he said are characterized by values such as love, brotherhood, tolerance, and self-sacrifice.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, Malakhil emphasized that the main purpose of celebrating the International Day of Pashtun Culture is to foster a deeper understanding of Pashtun traditions, culture, and ways of life, and to ensure these are kept alive for future generations. He remarked on the distinct identity of Pashtun culture globally and encouraged the youth to maintain and pass on their cultural heritage.
The adviser also pointed out that all communities living in Balochistan have their own unique histories and stressed the importance of playing a positive role in the development of both the country and the province. He stated, “This is the country, so we belong to Pakistan,” highlighting the unity within diversity.
Malakhil further explained that culture serves as a historical continuum, connecting the past with the present and shaping the future direction. He noted that as societies evolve, some past practices may become anecdotal, and new values emerge based on changing conditions and needs. However, he affirmed the strength of the core values and traditions of the Pashtun nation, such as brotherhood, tolerance, and philanthropy, which need to be highlighted through cultural events.
He concluded by stressing the importance of living in peace, love, and unity, despite the differences in cultures and languages across the region. Malakhil called for the celebration of these values through Pashtun cultural events, which play a crucial role in promoting positive and progressive thinking among the diverse populations.
