Protests in Maharashtra Over Blasphemous Remarks by Hindutva Seer


Tensions flared in Maharashtra as Muslims protested against Hindutva BJP/RSS seer Yati Narsinghanand Maharaj following his derogatory remarks about Prophet Mohammed (SAW). Clashes with police resulted in multiple arrests and injuries. According to Kashmir Media Service, during a public speech, the Ghaziabad-based Yati Narsinghanand Maharaj made objectionable comments about the Prophet (SAW), triggering widespread outrage among the Muslim community. In response, significant protests erupted, during which Indian police reportedly used force to disperse crowds in Amravati, arresting over two dozen protesters. The confrontations also led to injuries of 21 police officers. Security measures have been heightened in the area following the unrest. Amravati police have since registered a case regarding the incident. National Conference leader and Member of Parliament Ruhullah Mehdi criticized the response to the protests and the seer’s remarks, highlighting them as reflective of a broader issue of Islamophobia and
anti-Muslim sentiment in India.
