Srinagar, December 23, 2022 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the workers of Anganwadi (rural child care centre) held a protest in north Kashmir’s Handwara area against the recently approved human resource (HR) policy. The protesting Anganwadi workers said the retirement age for Anganwadi employees has been set at 60, and several orders contain provisions that are not in their best interests. “We are being told those Anganwadi workers who have attained the age of sixty years should sit at home; the move is unjustified and uncalled for,” said an Anganwadi worker.
The workers said the retirement age for Anganwadi workers in New Delhi and Ladakh is 65 years but it is 60 years in the territory. “We urge the authorities to repeal the policy as it is unfair to us” they said. Meanwhile, activists of Mission Statehood Jammu Kashmir (MSJK) in Jammu organised a protest rally against rising prices of Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), petrol and diesel and torched the effigy of the BJP government.
The protest was led by MSJK leader Sunil Dimple who claimed that the BJP Government has failed to control rising prices. He flayed the BJP government for imposing taxes, heavy electricity bills etc. Multiple protests were held in Jammu by the Jammu-based reserved category employees and daily wagers in support of their pending demands.
A peaceful protest was organised by the Jammu-based Reserved Category Employees who were demanding transfer policy. Amid shouting of slogans, these employees staged a sit-in outside the office of the BJP headquarter at Trikuta Nagar in Jammu. They said that their demands were not given any heed by the authorities even after months of protests in Jammu.
