Protesters Block Highway, Railway Track in Response to Killing of Kathua Youth


Jammu, A 35-year-old chemist, Amarjit Sharma, was found brutally murdered with his throat slit near his home in Mela village, Hiranagar tehsil, late last night.



According to Kashmir Media Service, the heinous crime sparked widespread outrage, with grieving relatives and neighbors staging a strong protest demonstration, blocking the highway and railway track for over four hours. Carrying Sharma’s body and chanting slogans, the protesters demanded the immediate arrest of the culprits, disrupting traffic and train movement.



Police and civil officers intervened, assuring a thorough investigation and promising strong legal action against the criminals. A Special Investigating Team (SIT) has been constituted to probe the murder and arrest the accused.



The killing of Amarjit Sharma is yet another gruesome reminder of the normalized violence and murder in Jammu and Kashmir. The territory has witnessed a surge in targeted killings, with numerous civilians falling prey to bullets and blades. The relentless spate of killings underscores the systemic failure to protect human life in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
