Srinagar, In the Thannamandi area of Rajouri district, a protest erupted involving family members, relatives, and locals following the suspicious death of Mohammed Kabir, which is believed to be another case of custodial killing in the Jammu region.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the demonstrators placed Kabir’s body on the road at Lah village and protested for several hours, demanding justice for the deceased and his family. Kabir, a laborer from Lah village, had traveled to Mumbai for work three months ago and was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Jammu upon his return.
The family became alarmed after losing contact with him following his arrival at Jammu Railway Station on May 7. Despite their efforts to locate him, his body was eventually discovered in a field in the Satwari area of Jammu on May 10. Disturbingly, the family noted that the clothing and shoes on the body were different from what Kabir had been wearing when last seen.
The protest, which lasted from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., highlighted the community’s anguish and suspicion regarding the circumstances of Kabir’s death, calling it a “blind murder” and pleading for accountability and justice. The case continues to evoke strong emotions and calls for thorough investigation by local authorities.
