Protest in Muzaffarabad on 1000 days of military siege in IIOJK 

Muzaffarabad, April 30, 2022 (PPI-OT):A protest rally was organized under the aegis of Pasban-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir as military siege in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir has exceeded 1000 days. A large number of people gathered in the old secretariat against the cruel measures of the Modi-led fascist Indian government in the occupied territory on 5th August 2019. They also marched on the main highway towards Burhan Wani Shaheed Chowk.

The citizens held banners questioning the silence of the United Nations on exceeding 1000 days of continuous military siege in IIOJK besides carrying placards demanding a referendum. People also chanted slogans against the Indian atrocities and heinous war crimes in the territory.

Addressing the rally, speakers said that the ruthless government of the BJP has divided Kashmir and tried to erase its identity. They said the military siege on 1.5 crore people with 900,000 troops has converted the entire occupied territory into a prison. Speakers said international human rights organizations and the United Nations are playing the role of silent spectator on India’s state terrorism.

“At least 561 youngsters have been martyred since August 5th, 2019 in an organized military attacks on unarmed Kashmiri people while thousands of Kashmiri citizens were imprisoned in notorious Indian jails, where they were subjected to the worst forms of torture”, they lamented.

They added that Indian troops have destroyed hundreds of homes and made many settlements into ashes. The protesters also drew the attention of international organizations to Kashmir and said that Modi’s brutality has deprived Kashmiri citizens of their political, social, religious and basic human rights.

The Chairman of Pasban-e-Hurriyat Uzair Ahmad Ghazali, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Shaukat Javed Mir, Usman Ali Hashim, Javed Ahmed Mughal, Chaudhry Muhammad Shahbaz, Dr Muhammad Manzoor, Faisal Farooq Muhammad Aimal Farzam, Muhammad Fayyaz and others were also present on the occasion.
