Protest camp highlighting Indian atrocities in IIOJK held outside UNHRC headquarters in Geneva

Geneva, September 21, 2023 (PPI-OT): A protest camp was held outside the headquarters of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva, the capital of Switzerland, to draw attention of the international community towards the Indian state terrorism in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the camp was organized by the Kashmiri delegation attending the ongoing 54th session of UNHRC including Altaf Hussain Wani, Sardar Amjad Yousaf Khan, Hassan Bana, Saira Shah and Prof Shugufta Ashraf.

The posters and banners with slogans like “India stop state terrorism in Kashmir”, “Indian Army – stop genocide in Kashmir”, “India repeal draconian laws in Kashmir”, “Kashmiris want freedom,” and “UN – women and girls are not safe in Indian occupied Kashmir”.

The participants of UNHRC session and the world community were urged to take cognizance of the Indian military repression, custodial killings, mass destruction of properties, restrictions on freedom of assembly and expression as well as religious and cultural aggression by India in the occupied territory.

A large number of people including participants of the UNHRC session visited the camp, expressed solidarity with the victims of Indian state terrorism in the occupied territory and condemned the arbitrary detention of Kashmiri political leaders, religious scholars and human rights defenders. They called upon the UNHRC and other world human rights organizations including Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and International Committee of Red Cross to play their role in the release of the Kashmiri detainees.
