Lahore: In a significant administrative reshuffle, 44 lecturers from various colleges in Punjab have been promoted to assistant professors. The promotions, affecting the Collegiate Branch, Men’s Section (General Cadre), were made on a regular basis within their cadre. These newly appointed assistant professors will also see changes in their postings across several institutions, effective immediately upon their promotion.
According to Higher Education Department – Government of the Punjab, the Departmental Promotional Committee convened on March 28, 2024, to finalize the promotions. Following the committee’s recommendations, the promotions were executed to fill positions in subjects ranging from English and Economics to Geography and Physics. For example, Sohaib Akhtar Mand, previously a lecturer in English at Government Islamia Graduate College, Civil Lines, Lahore, will now serve as an assistant professor at Government Associate College, G.T. Road, Gujrat.
This administrative move aims to bolster the academic staff across the province’s colleges, ensuring that key subjects are led by experienced and promoted faculty members. Transfers accompanying the promotions are set to place each professor in colleges where their expertise is most needed.
