Promotion Ceremony for Traffic Wardens Marks a Milestone in Punjab Police

Karachi, In a significant development for the traffic police department in Punjab, a rank pinning ceremony was held at the Central Police Office to honor 312 wardens promoted to senior traffic wardens. The ceremony, presided over by Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, marks a pivotal moment in the department’s history, showcasing a commitment to recognizing the hard work and dedication of its officers.

According to Punjab Police, the ceremony saw the participation of IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, who donned the traffic police uniform for the occasion. He, along with other senior officers, pinned new ranks to 50 of the promoted officers. The promotions included 100 wardens from Lahore, 81 from Rawalpindi, 68 from Faisalabad, 41 from Multan, and 22 from Gujranwala. This initiative follows a 17-year hiatus in promotions within the traffic police, with over a thousand wardens elevated this year.

Dr. Usman Anwar highlighted the availability of over 80 seats for promotion to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in the traffic department, emphasizing that these promotions would be based on merit and seniority. He addressed the challenges faced by traffic wardens, including incidents of violence during duty and health issues, and assured that steps are being taken to address these concerns.

Further, IG Punjab stressed the importance of fixing long working hours and formulating a coherent promotion structure for traffic wardens. He also announced plans for the upgradation and renovation of traffic police offices and infrastructure within the next month.

In his address, Dr. Anwar urged the newly promoted officers to reflect their departmental advancements through enhanced performance, good morals, a positive attitude, and sincere intention in serving the citizens. The ceremony was attended by several notable officials, including Additional IG Punjab Sultan Ahmed Chaudhry, Additional IG Traffic Mirza Faran Baig, MD Safe City Authority Ahsan Younis, DIG Establishment-1 Dr. Inam Waheed, and DIG Establishment-2 Zeeshan Asghar.

This event symbolizes a significant stride in acknowledging the contributions of traffic wardens and reinforcing the morale of the police force in Punjab.
