Prolonged Fog in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Upper Sindh, Warns Islamabad’s National Weather Forecasting Centre

Islamabad, The National Weather Forecasting Centre in Islamabad has issued a warning of continued fog over the plain areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Upper Sindh this week, urging citizens to exercise caution. A shallow westerly wave affecting Balochistan is also expected to reach the western parts of the country.

According to National Weather Forecasting Centre – Islamabad, the weather on Friday is predicted to be mainly cold and partly cloudy across most of the country, with very cold conditions in the north. Fog and smog are likely to persist in some plain areas of Punjab. Isolated rain (with snow over hills) is anticipated in northeastern and lower Balochistan and upper Sindh.

For Saturday, the forecast anticipates mainly cold and dry weather in most parts of the country, with very cold conditions persisting in northern areas and northern Balochistan. Dense fog and smog are expected to continue in Punjab, upper Sindh, and the plain areas of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, with frost likely in the Potohar region during the morning hours.

The past 24 hours saw cold and dry weather prevail over most of the country, particularly in northern areas. Dense fog and smog were reported in the plain areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Sindh, and Islamabad. There were also instances of rain-wind and thunderstorms in few places in Balochistan. The recorded rainfall included 28 mm in Ormara, 18 mm in Kalat, and various amounts in Quetta, Pasni, Khuzdar, Jiwani, Dalbandin, Panjgur, Jacobabad, and Khairpur.

The lowest minimum temperatures recorded today were -11°C in Leh, -09°C in Skardu, and -05°C in Kalam and Gupis, with Gilgit, Hunza, Astore, and Srinagar recording -03°C.
