Professor Butt Calls for Dialogue on Kashmir, Applauds Pakistan’s Ceasefire Response

Srinagar: Senior All Parties Hurriyat Conference leader Professor Abdul Ghani Butt has welcomed the ceasefire between Pakistan and India, describing it as a positive development facilitated by US intervention.

In a statement issued in Srinagar, Professor Butt stressed that meaningful and purposeful dialogue is the only viable path to resolving the Kashmir dispute. He emphasized that a just and lasting solution can only be achieved through sincere and result-oriented talks, underscoring that both India and Pakistan understand that war leads to destruction and human suffering.

Expressing gratitude for the ceasefire, Professor Butt commended Pakistan’s constructive response to India’s offer, highlighting it as a reflection of political maturity. He remarked that Pakistan’s statesmanship in this regard is commendable.

Professor Butt expressed hope that the Kashmir issue would remain central in future dialogue, as it is crucial for durable peace and development in South Asia. He noted that, within the context of the Kashmir dispute, issues like water and terrorism are secondary concerns. He called upon the leadership of both countries to exhibit wisdom and statesmanship in steering the region towards peace.
