Islamabad, In a significant step toward improving healthcare delivery, Dr. Malik Mukhtar Ahmed, Coordinator to the Prime Minister for Health Services, Regulations, and Coordination, visited the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) to review its medical facilities. Accompanied by Secretary Health, Mr. Iftikhar Ali Shallwani, the visit underscored the government’s dedication to ensuring the highest healthcare standards for its citizens.
According to Press Information Department, Dr. Ahmed conducted a thorough inspection of the hospital’s various wards, including the emergency department. He engaged directly with patients to understand their experiences and concerns regarding the treatment they received. Highlighting the critical nature of patient-centric care, Dr. Ahmed reiterated the administration’s resolve to promptly address any identified healthcare system deficiencies.
During his visit, Dr. Ahmed issued several directives aimed at boosting the hospital’s operational efficiency. These directives include the introduction of evening shifts in the Outpatient Department (O.P.D.), the establishment of specialized centers for Kidney and Liver transplants, and the creation of a dedicated committee to lead these initiatives. Dr. Ahmed also committed to supporting the hospital in meeting its human resource needs to ensure the provision of continuous healthcare services.
Furthermore, Dr. Ahmed received updates on the progress of seven new state-of-the-art operation theaters, which are nearing completion and are designed to meet international standards. He affirmed his unwavering support for the PIMS administration’s ongoing efforts to achieve excellence in healthcare services.
