Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has expressed approval of the supplementary award issued by the Court of Arbitration regarding the Indus Waters Treaty. The decision, announced under the aegis of the Permanent Court of Arbitration, affirms Pakistan’s position that India cannot unilaterally suspend the treaty.
The Prime Minister remarked that the court’s decision supports Pakistan’s stance on the matter. He underscored the importance of ongoing efforts to manage and protect water resources, highlighting that water remains a crucial component for the nation.
In his statement, Sharif extended gratitude to Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar and Attorney General Mansoor Awan for their contributions in the legal proceedings related to the case.
