Islamabad, September 17, 2021 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister Imran Khan has urged international community to remain engaged in support of Afghan people, take steps to prevent a humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan and stabilize its economy. He was talking to Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, on the sidelines of SCO Council of Heads of State, in Dushanbe on Friday. The Prime Minister underlined that a peaceful and stable Afghanistan is of critical importance for Pakistan and the region. He said in this perspective, Pakistan has assiduously supported the Afghan peace process.
Pakistan and China had maintained close collaboration for the meeting of six neighbouring countries of Afghanistan for a coordinated regional approach. It was agreed that the two sides would maintain the momentum of high-level exchanges and closely coordinate on all issues of common interest. During the meeting, China-Pakistan bilateral relations, CPEC and regional situation were also discussed. The Prime Minister conveyed cordial greetings for President Xi and Premier Li and said that Pakistan and China are ‘iron brothers’ and strategic partners.
