ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that no one would be permitted to destabilize the country’s economy during a Federal Cabinet meeting in Islamabad. The Prime Minister criticized the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s handling of increasing terrorism, lawlessness, and the organization of a long march.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister emphasized the country’s macroeconomic stability, citing historic State Bank reserves, controlled inflation, and targeted fuel subsidies as indicators of progress. He highlighted the increase in national remittances, strengthened fiscal discipline, and record high State Bank reserves.
Prime Minister Sharif criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), which governed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for 13 years, accusing them of leading Pakistan toward destruction. He noted that 800 billion rupees had been allocated to the province for counter-terrorism efforts, yet the government failed to enhance the Counter Terrorism Department, police force, or weaponry procurement, resulting in heightened terrorism.
He expressed deep concern over the loss of lives of civilians, police, and security officials. The Prime Minister announced that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and the Pakistan Peoples Party will send a joint delegation to engage with PTI leadership to resolve issues amicably, with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman playing a facilitative role.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for Saudi Arabia, condemning recent Houthi attacks and emphasizing the historic ties between the two nations. He reiterated the collective responsibility of safeguarding Makkah and Madinah and declared that Pakistan stands ready to cooperate with Saudi Arabia in all areas.
