Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Vows to Bolster Pak-Turkiye Trade Ties

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to enhance trade relations with Turkiye, aiming to achieve an annual trade volume of five billion dollars. This commitment was expressed during a meeting with a high-level delegation of Turkish businessmen, led by Turkiye’s Minister for Customs and Trade, Omer Bolat, in Islamabad today.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting focused on facilitating Turkish investments in Pakistan, with Prime Minister Sharif instructing local authorities to ensure all necessary support is available to Turkish investors. This initiative aligns with the agreements made previously with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and underscores the long-standing fraternal ties between the two nations.

Turkiye’s Minister for Customs and Trade, Omer Bolat, noted the significant presence of Turkish investments in Pakistan, currently valued at $3.5 billion across 54 companies. The Turkish delegation expressed their contentment with the political and economic stability in Pakistan, which they believe fosters a conducive environment for further investments.

Additionally, the Turkish delegation expressed gratitude towards Pakistan for its support following the devastating earthquake in Turkiye in 2023.

Prime Minister Sharif also reiterated his invitation to President Erdogan to visit Pakistan, highlighting the eagerness of the Pakistani people to welcome him.
