Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to Attend 79th UNGA Session in New York


Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to participate in the high-level segment of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, scheduled from September 23 to 27. This involvement underscores Pakistan’s commitment to significant global issues and multilateral diplomacy.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch outlined the details of the Prime Minister’s visit during a weekly briefing. The Prime Minister will deliver a speech reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to multilateralism and will discuss critical topics such as the Palestine issue and the Jammu and Kashmir dispute under the UN Security Council’s agenda.



The visit will also include high-level meetings concerning global challenges like sea level rise and leadership for peace, reflecting Pakistan’s active engagement in international affairs. Additionally, Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to hold bilateral discussions with various world leaders, the UN Secretary-General, and the President of the UNGA, as well as interactions with members of the Pakistani diaspora.



Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, accompanying the Prime Minister, will engage in a comprehensive schedule that includes representing Pakistan at the Summit of the Future and participating in the OIC’s annual coordination meeting, among other significant engagements.
