BAKU: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to address the Climate Action Summit COP29 in Baku today. In his anticipated speech, the Prime Minister will elaborate on the pressing threats that climate change poses to Pakistan and will outline the country’s strategic initiatives aimed at mitigating these environmental risks. Additionally, he is expected to discuss the responsibilities of developed nations in climate action and the proposed establishment of a new fund to support these efforts.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Prime Minister is also scheduled to meet with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev. Their meeting will center on strengthening bilateral cooperation, with a particular focus on energy and regional connectivity. This interaction underscores the importance both nations place on collaborative efforts to address shared challenges.
Meanwhile, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has also traveled to Baku to engage in the COP29 proceedings. He will be attending high-level meetings and participating in various events and discussions throughout the conference. The Finance Minister’s itinerary includes participating in activities organized at the Pakistan Pavilion, further highlighting Pakistan’s commitment to contributing to the global dialogue on climate action.
