Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Reviews Maritime Security with Pakistan Navy


Islamabad, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, accompanied by Federal Ministers, visited the Naval Headquarters in Islamabad to discuss the regional maritime security landscape and the operational preparedness of the Pakistan Navy. This visit included a ceremonial reception and detailed briefings on the Navy’s strategic capabilities and challenges.



According to Press Information Department, during the visit, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Naval Staff, briefed the Prime Minister on the Pakistan Navy’s roles, capabilities, and future modernization initiatives. The Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Operations) presented an overview of the current maritime environment, challenges faced by the Pakistan Navy, and the strategies implemented to address these issues.



The Prime Minister was informed about the necessary capabilities required by the Pakistan Navy to confront both present and future maritime threats. Discussions also touched on harnessing economic opportunities within the maritime sector. Prime Minister Sharif expressed his appreciation for the Pakistan Navy’s efforts in protecting the nation’s maritime interests and commended their professionalism, especially in thwarting a recent terrorist attack on Naval Airbase Turbat.



Highlighting the link between national security and economic strength, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of a robust economy in overcoming various challenges. The visit concluded with a tour of the Command Operations Centre, where the Prime Minister was briefed on operational strategies and the Navy’s commitment to national defense during both peace and conflict times.
