Kuala Lumpur: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has been conferred an honorary PhD in Leadership and Governance by the International Islamic University, Malaysia (IIUM). The degree was awarded at a ceremony in Kuala Lumpur by Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, the Queen of the Malaysian state of Pahang and the university’s constitutional head.
During the event, Prime Minister Sharif expressed his gratitude for receiving the honorary degree from the distinguished institution. He underscored the importance of academic partnerships between IIUM and leading Pakistani universities and expressed optimism about strengthening these ties.
Shehbaz Sharif remarked that leadership is a sacred trust and should be exercised with honesty, sincerity, and accountability. He highlighted the challenges faced by the Muslim community and stressed the need to adhere to Islamic values and ethics to regain a prominent status globally.
Queen Tunku Azizah Aminah praised Prime Minister Sharif’s leadership and vision. She noted his commitment to education and community development, citing the Punjab education endowment fund as a significant initiative that expanded educational opportunities for many.
The Queen also emphasized the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and Malaysia, which has been further reinforced under Sharif’s leadership.
In a social media post, Prime Minister Sharif described the recognition as a humbling experience and dedicated the honor to the people of Pakistan, highlighting the cultural and intellectual connections between the two countries.
