Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Reaffirms Strategic Ties with China During Meeting with President Xi Jinping

Beijing: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing, highlighting the enduring strategic partnership between Pakistan and China. The meeting, held in the context of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations, underscored mutual commitments to regional stability and cooperation in various sectors.

According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and other senior officials. Prime Minister Sharif expressed gratitude for China’s support for Pakistan’s sovereignty and economic stability. He emphasized the importance of the Pakistan-China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership as a cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy.

Prime Minister Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s support for China’s core interests, including the One-China Principle. He commended President Xi’s leadership and initiatives like the Belt and Road Initiative, expressing Pakistan’s support for a shared future for humanity. The discussion also included aligning China’s 15th Five-Year Plan with Pakistan’s Uraan initiative to enhance cooperation in industrialization, science and technology, and digital transformation.

President Xi Jinping affirmed the strong traditional friendship between the two countries and assured continued prioritization of relations with Pakistan. Both leaders agreed to advance the strategic partnership into a new phase of practical cooperation.
