Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Reaffirms Commitment to Education on International Literacy Day


Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif marked International Literacy Day by emphasizing the importance of literacy as a fundamental human right and key to empowerment, economic opportunity, and societal participation.



According to Press Information Department, the Prime Minister, in his message, reiterated the government’s commitment to advancing literacy and ensuring access to quality education for all. Sharif highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to enroll approximately 26 million out-of-school children through the proclamation of an “Education Emergency” across Pakistan. He also noted initiatives such as free meals, scholarships, and other incentives aimed at reducing dropout rates and encouraging students to complete their education.



Sharif emphasized the need for technology-driven education, stating that a comprehensive plan is being implemented to equip the youth with skills for the digital economy. He called for partnerships with the private sector and civil society to link education with employment opportunities, building a more inclusive workforce.



The Prime Minister urged the nation to unite in promoting literacy, working together to create a brighter future for Pakistan’s children and society.
