Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Proposes Closer Pakistan-Mongolia Ties During Bilateral Meeting

Islamabad: In a meeting held on the sidelines of the SCO Council of Heads of Government, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif invited his Mongolian counterpart, Luvsannamsrain Oyun-Erdene, to bolster bilateral relations and explore new cooperative ventures between Pakistan and Mongolia.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during their discussions, Prime Minister Sharif proposed several initiatives aimed at strengthening ties, including enhancing trade, investment, and people-to-people contacts. He expressed enthusiasm for future collaboration and suggested designating 2025 as the ‘Pakistan Mongolia Friendship Year’ to celebrate and deepen the bilateral relationship. Additionally, Sharif offered opportunities for Mongolian civil servants to attend training programs in Pakistani institutions.

The Mongolian Prime Minister appreciated Pakistan’s role in successfully hosting the SCO meeting and expressed a mutual interest in fostering stronger relations through joint efforts. Both leaders agreed to form a Joint Ministerial Commission to promote cooperation in sectors like trade, tourism, agriculture, and mining. They also consented to establish an inter-parliamentary union to expand parliamentary ties.

Highlighting the symbolic and practical aspects of their partnership, the Mongolian Prime Minister planted a sapling at the Prime Minister’s House, marking a commitment to ongoing collaboration between the two nations.
