Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the importance of quality education and technical training as the government’s top priority during a review meeting on matters related to the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training. The Prime Minister outlined the government’s commitment to ensuring that no child in Pakistan remains out of school and detailed several initiatives aimed at enhancing the education system.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting, which took place in Islamabad, focused on the development of a modern education system that includes skills development, information technology, and digitalization. Prime Minister Sharif highlighted the implementation of an education emergency and the importance of establishing a uniform education system through the National Curriculum Summit.
Further initiatives include the establishment of Daanish Schools in remote areas, day-care centers for female teachers in Islamabad, and e-Libraries in recreational areas with free internet access. The government also plans to offer monthly stipends to female students in rural areas to increase enrollment and to integrate technical training into the school curriculum.
Moreover, the Prime Minister directed the creation of a high-quality teacher training institute in Islamabad and called for a third-party audit to assess teacher training and capacity. The meeting also addressed transparency in teacher recruitment and the launch of an awareness campaign to bring back students who have dropped out of the education system due to various reasons.
The briefing revealed that new initiatives have already led to improvements, such as the provision of meals in schools, which has increased enrollment, and the establishment of 100 Early Childhood Education Centers in Islamabad Capital Territory. Additionally, modern IT and digital training centers have been set up in colleges, offering courses in data sciences, artificial intelligence, and blockchain, affiliated with top universities.
