Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed strong support for the recently announced Beijing Declaration, which facilitates the formation of an interim unity government among Palestinian factions. This development marks a significant step towards peace in the region.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Prime Minister Sharif, in a post on the social media platform X, commended the People’s Republic of China for its role in brokering the agreement. He highlighted the prolonged suffering of the Palestinian people and noted that the new unity government could foster hope for enduring peace.
The Prime Minister called for global solidarity with the Palestinian cause and urged an end to what he described as “brazen violence” by Israel in Gaza, which he said has resulted in the deaths of approximately forty thousand Palestinians over the past ten months.
Reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to the Palestinian cause, Sharif advocated for a two-state solution that would establish an independent Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders with Al Quds as its capital. He emphasized the importance of unity among Palestinian factions in ensuring a potent and unified approach to achieving peace, justice, and statehood.
