Islamabad, In a comprehensive cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, a bold vision for Pakistan’s economic and judicial reform was laid out, including a strategic five-year plan targeting sectoral growth and self-reliance, alongside a firm commitment to upholding the independence of the judiciary.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Prime Minister Sharif shared the broad parameters of a five-year economic plan with all ministries, setting specific targets to be met through strategic initiatives. Emphasis was placed on regular progress reviews, fiscal responsibility, and moving towards economic self-reliance. Sharif particularly highlighted the agricultural and Information Technology sectors as pivotal to growth and job creation, and he tasked the ministry of commerce with doubling the country’s exports within the current government’s tenure.

On judicial matters, the cabinet discussed a recent letter from six Islamabad High Court judges, which led to the appointment of Justice retired Tassaduq Hussain Jillani as head of an inquiry commission. This commission is charged with investigating the allegations raised and recommending actions where necessary, underscoring the government’s stance on non-interference in judicial affairs and the importance of constitutional separation of powers.

The meeting also addressed the tragic Besham incident, where the Prime Minister condemned the attack on Chinese engineers and reaffirmed Pakistan’s solidarity with China, vowing to counteract terrorism and ensure the safety and security of the nation and its international partners.

The federal cabinet expressed full support for the Prime Minister’s decisions and actions, reflecting a unified commitment to transparency, economic development, and the safeguarding of judicial integrity in Pakistan.
