ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif declared his government’s firm commitment to eradicating terrorism and restoring peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to secure Pakistan’s progress and stability. Addressing the PML-N Parliamentary Party meeting, he emphasized the necessity of imposing emergency and Governor’s Rule in the region to avert potential destruction.
According to Radio Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif highlighted that terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had been previously eradicated by 2017-18 after significant sacrifices. However, he attributed the resurgence of terrorism to the tenure of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government, which he claimed allowed terrorists to return. The Prime Minister criticized PTI for not supporting the families of martyrs and failing to oppose terrorist activities.
Shehbaz Sharif stated that the federal government had been actively engaged over the past two and a half years to manage the situation. He accused a political party of destabilizing efforts through protests and derogatory language rather than backing national security initiatives. He pointed out that essential development projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were being overlooked, impacting education, healthcare, and anti-corruption measures.
The Prime Minister underscored the government’s responsibility to intervene in safeguarding the nation’s progress and expressed optimism that joint efforts would lead to peace and development in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and across Pakistan.
