Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Orders Streamlining of Customs Operations

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the removal of all unnecessary obstacles in customs operations to enhance the efficiency of Pakistan’s economic backbone.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during a meeting held in Islamabad to review the operations of Pakistan Customs and the Federal Board of Revenue, the Prime Minister emphasized the need for modern technology and artificial intelligence in enforcing customs duties. He instructed the establishment of a Project Management Unit for ongoing customs reforms and called for a third-party audit of the Customs’ web-based system, WeBOC.

Additionally, measures to combat mis-invoicing and under-invoicing were discussed to protect national industries and ensure fair revenue collection. The meeting also highlighted significant advancements in automation and the use of artificial intelligence in customs processes.
