Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Meets with PLA Ground Forces Commander to Discuss Sino-Pak Defense Ties


Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif hosted General Li Qiaoming, Commander of the Ground Forces of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China, today in Islamabad, reaffirming the deep and strategic ties between Pakistan and China.



According to Press Information Department, the meeting underscored the importance of the longstanding relationship between the two nations, described by Prime Minister Sharif as All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partners. He expressed contentment with the growing military-to-military exchanges which he noted are crucial for the peace and stability in the region.



General Li echoed the sentiments of strong bilateral friendship and commitment, labeling China as Pakistan’s “iron brother” and a reliable strategic partner. He expressed China’s intention to elevate the partnership to new heights, particularly in defense and strategic cooperation. Both sides discussed enhancing the capacity building of their armed forces to promote regional peace and stability, and combat terrorism.
