Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Launches Organ Donor Initiative on International Identity Day

Islamabad: On the occasion of International Identity Day, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif announced a significant national initiative to promote organ donation, incorporating a special logo on National Identity Cards for volunteers. This initiative, unveiled on September 15, 2024, aims to enhance societal inclusivity and the accessibility of essential services through improved identity verification and technological integration.

According to Press Information Department, the special logo on the National Identity Cards will signify an individual’s commitment to organ donation. Prime Minister Sharif expressed that organ donation represents a vital act of kindness, potentially granting new life to individuals in dire need. He encouraged all citizens to join this life-saving community by registering as organ donors.

In his message, the Prime Minister also stressed the broader importance of identity in fostering a more inclusive society where every individual’s rights are recognized and respected. He called for a collective effort among citizens, civil society, and governmental institutions to promote awareness and education on identity-related issues.

Highlighting the role of technology, Prime Minister Sharif advocated for addressing gaps in the national registration and biometric systems to streamline access to services and improve the accuracy of identity verification.
