Islamabad, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has formally invited German investors to explore significant investment opportunities in Pakistan, emphasizing the country’s potential as a lucrative market for international businesses. This invitation was extended during a meeting with a German business delegation led by Hans Elbert, Chairman of the NGO Global Bridges. Sharif highlighted the strategic importance of enhancing trade and investment ties between Pakistan and Germany.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Prime Minister underscored Pakistan’s longstanding and valued relationship with Germany, identifying it as a key European partner. He expressed a strong desire to expand bilateral trade and investment, particularly in sectors such as industry, alternative energy, minerals, IT, and agriculture. Sharif also noted Pakistan’s vulnerabilities to climate change despite its low carbon emissions and voiced an intention to leverage German expertise in alternative energy and climate adaptation strategies.
The discussion also touched on the skills development of the Pakistani workforce, with Sharif mentioning ongoing initiatives to elevate local labor capabilities to international standards. The German delegation showed a strong interest in areas like Pakistan’s carbon credit market, and its agriculture sector. The meeting, which also saw the Prime Minister engaging in conversation in German, was marked by the presence of the German Ambassador to Pakistan, Alfred Grannas, symbolizing the depth of the bilateral relations.
