Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Initiates Pakistan Skill Company for Global Workforce Enhancement

Islamabad, In a strategic move to enhance the employment opportunities of Pakistani workers abroad, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered the creation of the Pakistan Skill Company. This directive was issued during a sectoral briefing with the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) and the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Prime Minister also called for the unification of technical and vocational education across the country and the immediate establishment of the Pakistan Skill Development Fund. He emphasized the necessity of elevating NAVTTC’s role to provide top-notch vocational training that meets international standards and includes globally recognized certifications.

Sharif highlighted the need for increased collaboration between federal institutions and provincial governments to develop the Pakistani workforce as per international benchmarks. He also pushed for the creation of an integrated regulatory system to oversee this training. A coordinated database for Pakistani manpower and reforms in the licensing regime for overseas employment companies were also on the agenda to protect workers from exploitation and economic loss.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister stressed merit and transparency in appointing community welfare attachés in Pakistani embassies and set forth a committee to propose reforms in NAVTTC and the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis. During the briefing, it was disclosed that NAVTTC aims to train sixty thousand individuals this year, with a goal to train six hundred thousand over the next three years following these reforms. Special training programs for the youth from Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir are also set to commence in June.
