Islamabad, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has established a committee to tackle the challenges in Gilgit-Baltistan, outlining a comprehensive development strategy that includes education, energy, and infrastructure projects. This move, aimed at accelerating progress in the region, was discussed during a meeting with Gilgit-Baltistan’s Chief Minister Gulbar Khan.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Sharif has directed the newly formed committee to formulate recommendations addressing the region’s issues. He emphasized the importance of constructing Danish schools in Gilgit-Baltistan’s three divisions to provide quality education and accommodation to children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
The Prime Minister’s directives also focused on expediting the Attabad and Harpo hydropower projects to ensure a stable power supply in the region. The completion of the Naltar Expressway was noted as a significant step towards enhancing regional connectivity and economic development.
Sharif further mandated the creation of an action plan to foster tourism and solar energy initiatives in Gilgit-Baltistan, prioritizing the holistic development and well-being of its people.
