Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Highlights Youth Empowerment on International Youth Day


Islamabad: On International Youth Day, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the pivotal role of young Pakistanis in driving sustainable development through digital innovation. Celebrating the theme “From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development,” the Prime Minister outlined the government’s extensive initiatives to integrate technology and opportunity, empowering the nation’s youth.



According to Press Information Department, Prime Minister Sharif praised the potential of Pakistan’s youthful population, noting that over 60% are under the age of 30 and increasingly connected to the global digital landscape. The government’s commitment to youth empowerment is evident in the significant funding and support provided through various schemes. Since 2013, the Youth Loan and Agricultural Scheme has disbursed approximately 186 billion rupees to over 280,000 young entrepreneurs, spurring job creation across the nation.



The Youth Business Loan Scheme has been expanded to include Agricultural Loans and collaborations with Microfinance institutions for interest-free lending. Looking forward, the government plans to allocate an additional 100 billion rupees in the next financial year, aiming to support around 300,000 young entrepreneurs.



Furthermore, the comprehensive Youth Programme encompasses skill development, technological advancement through the Youth Laptop Scheme, and financial assistance through various loan schemes. This holistic approach ensures that young individuals have the tools they need to succeed and contribute effectively to Pakistan’s socio-economic growth.



Prime Minister Sharif concluded by urging young Pakistanis to seize the available opportunities, emphasizing that their success is integral to the nation’s future prosperity.
