Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Highlights Significance of Pak-China Strategic Ties

Islamabad: Prime Minister Mohammad Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the crucial role of defense and strategic relations between Pakistan and China in maintaining regional peace and stability during a meeting with General Li Qiaoming, Commander of the Ground Forces of the People’s Liberation Army of China.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the discussions affirmed the depth of the bilateral ties, which are supported broadly within Pakistan across public, political, and institutional realms. Prime Minister Sharif expressed that these relations are essential for the continued progress and development of both nations.

He warmly welcomed General Li to Pakistan, reiterating the strong bond between the two countries as All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partners and trusted friends. The Prime Minister also expressed satisfaction with the growing military-to-military exchanges, which he described as the foundation of the bilateral relationship.

From his side, General Li underscored China’s commitment to the partnership, referring to Pakistan as an “iron brother” and a reliable friend. He conveyed China’s intent to elevate the bilateral friendship to new heights of cooperation, particularly in military collaborations aimed at enhancing the capacity building of both nations’ armed forces.

The meeting highlighted the robust defense and strategic partnership as a cornerstone of the Pakistan-China friendship, focusing on mutual interests in regional peace and anti-terrorism efforts.
