Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif today praised the new electricity relief package announced by Punjab Chief Minister, highlighting it as a significant step towards easing the financial burden on power consumers. This initiative grants a Rs 14 per unit reduction for users consuming up to 500 units of electricity.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Prime Minister Sharif expressed his commitment to finding durable solutions to the challenges facing the electricity sector, including theft and the need for overall reforms. He recognized the efforts of Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and the Punjab Chief Minister in implementing this consumer-friendly measure.
Shehbaz Sharif reiterated that public relief has been a top priority since he assumed office, under the guidance of Mian Nawaz Sharif. He noted that the government had recently redirected Rs 50 billion from the federal development budget to subsidize electricity prices, benefiting consumers using up to 200 units. Emphasizing the government’s focus, the Prime Minister declared that economic stabilization has set the country on the right path, with reducing inflation and enhancing public relief as primary goals.
