Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Commits to Resolving Issues for Kashmiri People

Islamabad, During a day-long visit to Muzaffarabad, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif assured the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) leadership of his commitment to finding enduring solutions to the challenges faced by the Kashmiri people.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Prime Minister addressed a special cabinet meeting of the AJK, instructing the formation of a committee to tackle issues such as water charges and the Neelum Jhelum hydropower project. He expressed condolences for the recent killings of a police official and some citizens during a protest, announcing support for the bereaved families under the Shuhada Package.

Prime Minister Sharif also directed that immediate steps be taken to complete the construction of the Mangla Phase-2 project bridge and discussed the ongoing issues with the Neelum Jhelum project, mandating federal officials to work with Kashmiri leaders on a range of solutions.

Highlighting Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri cause, the Prime Minister cited the national advocacy for Kashmiri rights at international forums, including the recent OIC Summit in Gambia. He also condemned the human rights abuses in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and reiterated Pakistan’s moral and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri struggle for self-determination.

AJK Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwaar ul Haq commended Prime Minister Shehbaz’s visit as a significant gesture showing Pakistan’s dedication to the AJK region.
