Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Commits to Accelerating Connectivity Projects with Uzbekistan

Islamabad, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to enhance bilateral trade and complete key connectivity projects with Uzbekistan. This assurance came during a meeting with Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov in Islamabad.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, discussions focused on boosting cooperation in trade, economy, security, defense, and connectivity, along with fostering people-to-people contacts. The significance of the Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan Railway project was underscored, with Pakistan affirming its dedication to the project’s rapid completion to facilitate regional connectivity.

The meeting also addressed the critical role of peace and development in Afghanistan in achieving regional connectivity goals. The Uzbek Foreign Minister, conveying congratulations from President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Sharif’s re-election, extended an invitation for an official visit to Uzbekistan, which Prime Minister Sharif accepted with gratitude, expressing eagerness for the forthcoming diplomatic engagement.
