Islamabad: In a parliamentary session today, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif addressed concerns raised by the opposition, stating that the government has not made any decisions regarding the export of wheat.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during his speech, Prime Minister Sharif responded to speculation about wheat exports and referenced past policies under the PTI government involving the export and subsequent import of wheat and sugar. In a related discussion, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Azam Nazeer Tarar highlighted the government’s commitment to improving healthcare, noting a shortage of nursing staff in the capital and measures being taken to address it through evening classes in nursing schools.
The session also saw the passing of the State Owned Enterprises (Governance and Operations) Bill, 2024, aimed at enhancing the management and operational efficiency of state-owned enterprises, aligning them with broader reform and privatization efforts. Additionally, “The Pakistan Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2024” was introduced. The parliamentary session concluded with prayers for recently martyred Captain Osama bin Arshad and other victims, including those of the Neelum Valley incident, before being prorogued.
