Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has issued a strong appeal for unity and collective effort to address Pakistan’s pressing economic challenges, emphasizing the need to prioritize economic stability over political discord. In a detailed statement released on Sunday, Sharif underscored the importance of collaborative efforts to achieve economic recovery and political stability, which are intrinsically linked.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Prime Minister Sharif criticized the focus on chaotic politics and public rallies, advocating instead for concerted actions aimed at economic improvement and inflation reduction. He stressed that the time for public demonstrations would be in 2028, but the current period must be devoted to fulfilling the commitments made to the Pakistani people.
Sharif highlighted the crucial role of political stability in fostering economic development, noting that the public has shown support for this approach by aiding in the stabilization of the political climate. He articulated a vision where national unity is pivotal for securing a prosperous economic future for Pakistan and alleviating the burdens of inflation.
The Prime Minister also called upon all political parties, institutions, and provincial governments to unite in addressing not only economic hurdles but also the persistent threat of terrorism. He pointed out that political turmoil has previously led to wasted opportunities for progress, and insisted that further distractions could be detrimental to national interests.
Furthermore, Sharif detailed recent economic indicators that suggest improvement, including a return to single-digit inflation, rising exports, a stabilizing currency, increasing remittances, and reduced interest rates, which he described as tangible signs of economic advancement.
Concluding his message, Prime Minister Sharif expressed a commitment to making the ongoing International Monetary Fund (IMF) program the country’s last, marking it as a pivotal goal for his administration. He urged every sector of society to contribute positively to resolving public issues, emphasizing that real societal and economic progress cannot stem from discord and disarray.
