Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Begins Official Visit to China with a Focus on Innovation and Trade


Shenzhen, Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has commenced his first official visit to China since taking office, beginning with a stop in Shenzhen, a key hub of innovation and technology. Upon arrival, the Prime Minister was greeted by Mr. Luo Huanghao, Vice Mayor of Shenzhen. Accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, along with other senior cabinet ministers, the visit aims to strengthen ties between Pakistan and China, particularly in high-tech industries.



According to Press Information Department, during his two-day stay in Shenzhen, Prime Minister Sharif will engage with leaders from Guangdong Province and the Shenzhen Municipal Government. The agenda includes discussions with executives from leading Chinese companies in the innovation and high-tech sectors, underscoring the visit’s focus on enhancing economic cooperation.



A major highlight of the visit is the inauguration of the Pakistan-China Business Conference, where Prime Minister Sharif aims to foster and lead collaboration between Pakistani and Chinese business leaders. This conference will feature a delegation of prominent Pakistani businesspersons, poised to explore opportunities with their influential Chinese counterparts.



Shenzhen’s status as a center for China’s cutting-edge technology, research-led companies, and enterprises makes it an ideal starting point for the Prime Minister’s visit. The engagements here are expected to advance partnerships in export-oriented innovation, advanced technologies, high-tech development, and information and communication technology (ICT), key areas identified for bilateral growth.



This visit not only reaffirms the strong diplomatic and economic relations between Pakistan and China but also aligns with Pakistan’s strategic goals to harness technology and innovation as drivers of its economic development.
