BAKU: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is currently representing Pakistan at the Climate Action Summit of COP-29 in Baku, Azerbaijan. Upon his arrival, he was greeted by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Prime Minister will host a Climate Finance Roundtable Conference, which will see participation from multiple global leaders. During the summit, he aims to highlight the challenges faced by developing countries, particularly Pakistan, which contribute minimally to the emission of harmful gases yet endure the severe impacts of climate change.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Sharif will partake in a high-level event titled “Glaciers 2025: Actions for Glaciers,” organized by the President of Tajikistan for glacier protection. He is also scheduled to hold separate meetings with the Prime Ministers of Denmark and the Czech Republic, focusing on promoting bilateral relations and addressing the climate change risks faced by Pakistan.
