Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif today emphasized the swift advancement of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor’s (CPEC) second phase, speaking to a delegation of journalists who recently visited China under the auspices of the China Public Diplomacy Association.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during the meeting in Lahore, Prime Minister Sharif discussed his direct involvement in overseeing the implementation of agreements and Memorandums of Understanding with China following his recent trip to Beijing. He noted significant progress in bilateral cooperation across various sectors subsequent to visits by Chinese experts to Pakistan.
The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of security measures for Chinese nationals in Pakistan and advocated for apolitical support for the CPEC, underscoring the strategic alliance with China. He stressed that China’s unwavering support in challenging times exemplifies the depth of this bilateral relationship.
During the interaction, the journalistic delegation, including members from major Pakistani news outlets, shared insights from their visit to China, praising the government’s pro-business stance and the swift execution of CPEC projects, commonly referred to as “Shehbaz Speed.” The Chinese officials reportedly expressed satisfaction with Pakistan’s efforts to facilitate investments and expedite CPEC initiatives.
The meeting was also attended by the Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, who supported the discussions on enhancing Pakistan-China relations.
