Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Announces Relief Package for Balochistan’s Rain-Hit Families

Gwadar, In response to the devastating effects of recent torrential rains and flash floods in Balochistan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has unveiled a comprehensive compensation package for the affected families in the region. The announcement, made during a media briefing in Gwadar, underscores the federal government’s commitment to the complete rehabilitation of the impacted communities.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Prime Minister has pledged a substantial relief effort, including financial assistance worth millions of rupees. Families of the deceased will receive two million rupees each, while individuals injured due to the calamities are set to receive half a million rupees each. Additionally, compensation for fully destroyed houses has been set at seven hundred and fifty thousand rupees each, with three hundred and fifty thousand rupees allocated for each partially damaged home.

Prime Minister Sharif stated that the compensation distribution process would be expedited and completed within four days under the vigilant supervision of Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Ahmed Bugti. Starting tomorrow, seven thousand food packs will be distributed daily to the rain-affected individuals, a process that will continue until all victims have safely returned to their homes.

In a further gesture of support, Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti announced the immediate release of 400 million rupees as compensation for the eighty-three boats belonging to fishermen of Gwadar that were damaged during the storms.

Earlier, during his first visit to the area since taking office, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed all relevant authorities to maximize their efforts in rescue and relief operations. He emphasized that the federal government would deploy all available resources to assist the people of Gwadar and other affected areas in Balochistan. The Prime Minister also personally distributed relief goods among the affected families, highlighting the government’s hands-on approach to the crisis.

The visit provided Prime Minister Sharif with a detailed briefing on the situation, allowing him to assess the extent of the damage and the needs of the affected communities firsthand. This move by the federal government is seen as a critical step towards addressing the immediate needs of the Balochistan residents impacted by the recent natural disasters.
