Islamabad, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced the initiation of a national program aimed at combating child malnutrition, in collaboration with provincial governments. This plan is part of a broader initiative focused on population welfare and the prevention of infectious diseases, discussed during a high-level meeting with international experts on child malnutrition held in Islamabad on Friday.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting included a presentation of a detailed report by the World Bank, which highlighted the critical state of child development in Pakistan. The report underscored that a significant number of children in the country are at risk of stunting due to inadequate health facilities, lack of essential nutrients, contaminated water use, poor sanitation, and insufficient awareness about developmental needs. Prime Minister Sharif emphasized that ensuring optimal nutritional development of children is crucial for the country’s future.
