New York: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has highlighted the need for innovative financing mechanisms to boost Pakistan’s development initiatives in areas such as water management, energy, and human development. In a meeting with World Bank President Ajaypal Singh Banga on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session, Sharif acknowledged the World Bank’s ongoing support in helping Pakistan address its economic challenges and implement critical reforms.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during the discussion, Prime Minister Sharif expressed gratitude towards the World Bank for its role in fostering economic reforms in Pakistan, which focus on poverty reduction and enhancing infrastructure. Sharif briefed President Banga on the government’s measures, including policy adjustments and administrative changes, aimed at maximizing economic potentials and fostering inclusive, sustainable growth.
The meeting also touched on reforms in key sectors such as energy, finance, and revenue, with Sharif indicating that Pakistan anticipates continued and enhanced support from the World Bank for its renewed economic reform agenda. Both leaders reiterated their commitment to achieving Pakistan’s developmental objectives in line with Vision 2025 and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
