Prime Minister Sharif Pushes for Boosted Crop Yields and Wheat Board Restructuring

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has issued directives for the implementation of effective measures aimed at enhancing the production of wheat and other crops. The directives were given during a meeting today with the Ministry of National Food Security and Research and the Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation (PASSCO).

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Prime Minister chaired discussions on refining the federal government’s strategy for wheat procurement in coordination with provincial authorities, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and other relevant institutions. The meeting resulted in the approval for the restructuring of the Wheat Board, emphasizing the inclusion of farmers’ representatives and officials from the Land Information and Management System and SUPARCO.

Additionally, Prime Minister Sharif called for the development of an action plan concerning the privatization of PASSCO, signaling a move towards optimizing agricultural management and storage practices.
